Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane talked to the press after the team’s terrible 3-1 loss against Real Sociedad. The Frenchman praised wonder kid Brahim Diaz, who completed a very solid performance and arguably was Madrid’s Man of the Match.
“He played well. He’s a great, a fascinating player to watch. He is still young, so let’s see what happens next season. He played plenty of minutes and did well,” said Zidane about the Spanish attacker. It looks like Brahim could be sent on a loan deal, but he might be earning a spot in next season’s squad with his recent performances.
Marcelo has had a very worrying season but Zidane still has faith in his defender.
“He is crucial to this team. I want to get Marcelo back to full fitness and then we’ll make some real progress,” explained the coach when asked about the Brazilian player.
Zidane also summarized the game.
“I was happy with the start of the game, we began well and scored. After the Real Sociedad disallowed goal, when play was stopped for three or four minutes, another match began. It was a shame because we played well and had chances, even with ten men. For us it is better that it’s over now. The second half was difficult, but even down to 10 men it was end-to-end and we had chances to score. When they made it 3-1it was tougher. When you start well and finish like that it is always hard, especially for the players because of the effort they put in. Against Rayo it was a bad game, but not today,” concluded Zidane.
