Bale’s agent speaks out on situation at Real Madrid
Gareth Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has spoken out yet again on behalf of his client’s position with Real Madrid, focusing on a more positive outlook this time around in an interview with ESPN FC.
“Gareth is fine. He is still a Real player with three years left on his contract. He has always been clear about that. And if he is picked he will play.”
“You would have to ask Mr. Zidane what he wants to do. But Gareth will keep trying.”
This comes after Bale was left out of the squad by Zidane in the road match against Sociedad over the weekend, despite being otherwise fit to play.
Zidane has since responded to questions as to why he left Bale out of the squad for the trip to Anoeta.
“I do not know if he will play (against Real Betis). We’ll see next week.”
“It’s very clear what I’ve done this weekend. Now we have another game and then we will see next year. It is done.”
There’s been so much uncertainty and vagueness surrounding this entire saga between Bale and Zidane, obviously most speculation leaning towards an exit for Bale this summer.
If he is to truly depart Real Madrid this coming window, he may not even get another match in should Zidane opt to leave him out for the Betis match as well.
We’ll have to stay tuned how this carries out into this coming weekend and what will happen to Bale the remainder of this season and this summer to come.
Navas reportedly told he will not be the first choice goalkeeper next season
According to ESPN, Zinedine Zidane has reportedly told Keylor Navas that he will be choosing Thibaut Courtois as his first choice keeper next season.
This likely means that Navas will be relocating this summer, though nothing has been confirmed regarding his situation as of yet.
It’s quite obvious that Courtois had to be the first choice keeper next season, they weren’t going to give up on him after only one year where the defense in front of him heavily struggled and the club paid a hefty fee for him.
If this is truly the end of the road for Navas at Real Madrid it has been an incredible ride for him with a rather unfortunate ending. With what he is getting paid, it wouldn’t be feasible to continue into next season trying to alternate between the two again.
If he is to depart, Real will have to find a replacement backup. Whether it be Andriy Lunin, Luca Zidane, or someone brought in, Courtois will need a backup for next season should Navas truly depart.
This will be another interesting saga going into the offseason as to what happens to Navas should this report prove to be true.
Brahim reportedly not keen on any loan move
According to MARCA, Real Madrid youngster Brahim Diaz is not too high on a loan move out of the club next season and obviously prefers to remain a part of the first team.
Brahim has impressed almost every time he has been given the opportunity to start, which has unfortunately been rather few and far between. He did start against Sociedad where he scored the opening, lone goal for Real in Sunday’s 3-1 loss.
His position with Real next season likely depends on any summer signings, specifically if other players like Eden Hazard are indeed brought in.
Zidane and company at least have the summer to contemplate what to do with Brahim next season and will decide if he has earned a spot at the club heading into next season.
