Real Madrid’s season ended with a 0-2 loss against Betis this past Sunday but the club is already working and have just announced a contract extension for midfielder Toni Kroos, who will stay in the club until 2023.

This is a bit of a shocking contract extension considering that there were rumors suggesting that Madrid were going to part ways with Kroos to make room for another midfielder. It definitely seems that Los Blancos want to upgrade their midfield line and Kroos’ contract extension could mean that Casemiro and Modric might have some serious competition for their starting spot next year. Kroos will talk to the press later today and it will be interesting to hear what he has to say about the future of the team after such a mediocre season.
This is only the first of many moves for Real Madrid this summer, stay tuned for more news.
