Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has confirmed that he will stay in the club next season in an interview with MARCA.

“I am going to stay here next year, I’m sure we will live some thrilling emotions once again,” said the defender. Varane had been rumored to be on his way out of the club for the last couple of months but now he has confirmed that he will wear the white shirt next season.

“We’ve fought and we’ve given our very best. There are no regrets, but it’s true we lacked an extra spark when we were struggling. It’s just a cycle. I didn’t play at my best level but we will see the best Varane again,” he added.

Zinedine Zidane’s return to the club has probably convinced Varane of staying. The French coach has always had a very good relationship with the defender.

“We have to improve and Zidane knows it. We have to regroup, there are things we need to change and that happens every time an era ends,” concluded Varane.

It’s good to hear that Varane is committed and he wants to stay. Real Madrid have signed Eder Militao and even though he will need minutes to keep developing and improving as a player. Therefore, Zidane will have three world class defenders in Ramos, Varane and Militao next season.
