There will certainty be signings this summer to reconstruct a fragile and broken Real Madrid team, but reports have surfaced from Libertad Digital, esRadio, and Marca that Madrid are also planning a series of contract renewals for current members. The first, was this previous Monday, with Toni Kroos signing a 1 year extension. The club want to complete all the renewals before the start of next season.
The players expected to extend their contract are: Toni Kroos, Raphael Varane, Nacho, Karim Benzema, Casemiro, Fede Valverde, and Sergio Reguilon. In the case of the latter, Sergio Reguilon, he is likely to renew and then be sent on loan to further his development. Reguilon spoke to the press earlier this week and said the following, “I have fought hard to be in Real Madrid. I have a contract and I am going to fight to stay. I am very happy and calm with what will come” he affirmed. Varane, who was thought to be looking for an exit just a few months back, has come out and stated that he will remain at the club. Karim Benzema and Fede Valverde will be rewarded for their good performances this season. The club feel that Casemiro, who has yet to renew since 2015, is long overdue for a new contract and a pay raise.
After a disastrous 2019-2019 season, the club look to be moving quickly to settle the squad. Those who are in the process of extending their contract should likely feel relieved and hopefully re-motivated entering the new season. Rumors will be in overdrive in the coming months, but these individuals will see their future at the Bernabeu.
