Real Madrid attacker Raul De Tomas has completed a brilliant season for Rayo Vallecano even though his team finished last in the standings and could not avoid relegation. De Tomas was almost the only bright spot in Rayo’s season and now he wants to prove that he can be a relevant player in Madrid’s first team, where he is expected to complete the pre-season stage before a final decision about his future is made.
De Tomas has already played for teams like Cordoba, Valladolid and Rayo but has not got a chance to be in Madrid’s first team just yet, something he clearly wants to achieve after the pre-season.
“I hope to show Zidane the kind of player I am. I want to rest now to return with my batteries charged to show who I am and I think I am ready to play for Real Madrid,” said De Tomas in an interview with MARCA.
Los Blancos appear to be ready to sell De Tomas and reports from Spain indicate that he could be worth around €30 million. The attacker has played well but he might not be ready to be Benzema’s main backup and the club seems to be focusing on Luka Jovic for that kind of role.
If Real Madrid end up selling De Tomas, they could include some kind of buyback clause similar to the one Morata or Mariano had when they left the club to find minutes as starters.
