It is not yet June and the drama surrounding Real Madrid has already intensified. A report from Cadena Cope has stated that the relationship between Sergio Ramos and club president, Florentino Perez is broken. Apparently, Ramos spoke with the president and told him that he’s tired and worn out from the season and in need of a new challenge. A huge offer from China was reported earlier in the day, and Florentino Perez confirmed as much for Onda Cero this evening, stating that Sergio Ramos’ camp say they have a big contract offer for him from China, but he’d need to go on a free. Perez response was simple: “I told Ramos it was impossible for Real Madrid to let its captain go for free”.
Sergio Ramos apparently warned Perez last summer prior to the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo: “if Cristiano leaves, we will have a bad time”. Zidane is not involved in any of the controversy, the relationship between the two is excellent. The Frenchman is counting on Ramos and will do everything to convince him to remain at the Bernabeu.
With the revelations from tonight’s interview and the breaking report from Cadena Cope, it does seem there is some truth to the Ramos rumors and reports. Cope went on to state that Ramos has two offers from European giants which he has yet to present to the club. Having given everything to Real Madrid, the captain is expecting “a gesture” from the club. This is not the first time Ramos has been on the verge of leaving the club nor is it the first time Ramos and Perez apparently had a falling out. In 2015, after Ramos last contract extension, he was on the verge of joining Manchester United. This could all be posturing for one last contract extension at Madrid or truly Ramos is ready for a new challenge.
