Gareth Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has talked to the press one more time to say that his client does not want to leave the club this summer. This time, he added one more thought.
“I’m not sure if Mr. Zidane wants him to stay but Bale wants to do so for the time being,” said Barnett to Sky Sports.
Barnett has said that same thing many times in the past few weeks, knowing that Bale could be forced to find a new club this summer. Real Madrid seem eager to part ways with the Welshman after yet another disappointing season but Bale’s decision matters given that he’s under contract until 2022.
Bale’s value as a player has decreased quite drastically over the last few seasons but his contract is still a big one, which means that the clubs interested in signing him would need to match his current salary unless Bale unexpectedly decides to take a pay cut.
