Real Madrid defender Achraf Hakimi will stay in Borussia Dortmund next season to conclude his loan deal, according to the words of Dortmund's football director Michael Zorc.
"There is no doubt. We talked with his agent and there's not a single scenario where he doesn't play for Borussia Dortmund next season," said Zorc.
Achraf has been performing so well this season that some Real Madrid fans wanted the club to get him back this next summer, even more so considering how disappointing Marcelo has been this year. However, Achraf will keep being a starter for the German side next season and will get the relevant minutes he needs to keep developing as a player.
Achraf suffered a season-ending injury a month ago and it will be interesting to see how he recovers. He should have time to complete at least part of the pre-season with Dortmund.
The defender has the potential to become an undisputed starter in Madrid’s left flank, although his natural position is on the right, where Madrid already have Carvajal and Odriozola. Achraf barely got minutes last season and proved that he still lacks the experience to play at a high level, so it was a bit surprising to see him playing so well in his first season in the Bundesliga. Either way, he's still 20 years old and has plenty of room for improvement.
