Former Sevilla, Arsenal and Real Madrid player Jose Antonio Reyes passed away this morning after a car accident. Real Madrid published a official statement on their website.
Real Madrid C. F. is deeply sorrowed and saddened by the death of our former player, José Antonio Reyes.
Real Madrid C. F. wishes to convey its condolences to his family, friends and teammates, with whom the club shares the tremendous pain caused by his passing. The club also extends its condolences to his current team, Extremadura U. D.

Reyes was an outstanding player. He signed for Real Madrid on a loan deal and even though he was mostly a reserve he played a crucial role in the team’s 2006-2007’s La Liga title under Fabio Capello. Los Blancos needed to beat Mallorca on the last game of the season yet they were down 0-1 when Reyes came off the bench. He scored the equalizer in the 68th minute which gave the team a lot of momentum and also the third goal which clinched the title.
