Manchester United won’t try to sign Gareth Bale -report

According to Sky Sports.

Croatia v Wales - UEFA Euro 2020 Qualifier

Gareth Bale is no longer a Manchester United target, according to a report from Sky Sports. His age, combined with the salary he currently earns at Real Madrid simply are not what the Red Devils are looking for, so the Welshman could ultimately stay in the Spanish capital past this summer unless some other club shows interest.

Bale is not in Zidane’s plans for next season and Real Madrid also need to sell some players to make room for new signings Hazard, Jovic and Rodrygo. Bale’s current deal expires in 2022 and he has the upper hand in these negotiations, given that he could always stay and take the money.

Real Madrid are in trouble if no club makes an effort for their player. Bale is unsettled and Los Blancos simply can’t afford to let €20 million/year sit on the stands on a consistent basis. Bale could be a good asset —expensive too— coming off the bench, but he has not shown the willingness to embrace that kind of role in the past, so it will be interesting to see what happens come August 31st.
