A reunion with Ancelotti might be what he needs.

Napoli are interested in the signing of Colombian attacker James Rodriguez, who will finish his loan deal with Bayern Munich this summer. James could return to Real Madrid for a few weeks but is expected to leave the club, especially after Zinedine Zidane’s return to the Spanish capital.

If Napoli find a way to complete the deal, James would reunite with coach Carlo Ancelotti, cleary the man who brought the very best out of him. Ancelotti and James worked together in the 2014-15 season and the player was a notable performer during that campaign. In the end, Ancelotti’s Madrid failed to win one of the three major trophies and the Italian got sacked, something which hurt James’ chances of playing. Neither Rafa Benitez nor Zinedine Zidane found a key role for him and Madrid ultimately had to agree to a loan deal.

A reunion with Ancelotti might be what James needs to resurrect his career and become a relevant player in elite football again, so this deal makes a lot of sense for both clubs.
