According to TV2, a government-owned subscription television station in Denmark, Martin Odegaard and his father, Hans Erik—who also represents him as an agent, have landed in Dusseldorf this Thursday morning. It was expected that Odegaard would have one more move away from home this season, and it looks like Bayern Leverkusen have won the race. Ajax was another club who were desperate for the Norwegians signature, but the higher level of the Bundesliga, the fit of Peter Bosz attacking Leverkusen side, and the lure of Champions League football all pulled the tide in the German clubs favor.
With Eden Hazard, Vinicius JR, Bale, Brahim Diaz, Rordrygo, Lucas Vazquez, Isco, and Asensio all still on the books at Madrid, another year buys the club and the player some time and offers him another opportunity to devour minutes at an even higher level. According to Algemeen Dagblad or AD, a Dutch daily newspaper based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Ajax have already conceited defeat. They had hoped Odegaard would be their Ziyech successor, but they are already aware of an impending deal between the player and Leverkusen.
After losing Julian Brandt to Dortmund and with Kai Havertz heavily linked to top clubs around Europe, there should definitely be ample space and opportunity for young Odegaard to play and to thrive.
