Real Madrid want to sign Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz, according to a report from AS. His performances during the last few games in the U21 Euro have impressed Madrid’s staff and it seems that Los Blancos don’t believe they will be able to sign Pogba, so Fabian is now a more viable option.

However, Fabian doesn’t have a release clause in his contract with Napoli and the Italian club just don’t want to sell such a promising player. They spent €30 million to sign him away from Betis just a year ago and now his value has increased, so it won’t be easy for Real Madrid to complete a deal for him.

Still, Napoli’s interest in James Rodriguez could give Madrid a chance. The Italian club has been trying to sign the Colombian playmaker for the last couple of weeks as they want to reunite him with coach Carlo Ancelotti. If Madrid are willing to pay close to €50 million and include James in the deal, Fabian could very well become a Blanco this summer, as Napoli reportedly want to get around €90 million for the midfielder.

Fabian is a very interesting player who has been impressive in the U21 Euro. However, the same thing can be said about Dani Ceballos, who is now ready to leave the club after Zinedine Zidane’s return to the Spanish capital. Furthermore, the price seems to be too high for that kind of player who hasn’t reached stardom just yet.

Fabian would likely be a reserve next season behind Casemiro, Kroos and Modric, so it’s hard to imagine Madrid making that kind of effort for him.
