Paul Pogba’s potential signing for Real Madrid seems quite difficult at the moment, so Los Blancos are taking a look at some other players to reinforce the midfield line just in case they can’t complete a deal for the French star. Donny van de Beek is now one of the names mentioned in the Spanish press, this time on a report published on MARCA.
The Ajax midfielder is 22 years old and appears to be an interesting prospect, but would he be able to help Real Madrid’s starting XI the way Pogba would? Right now, it’s clear that Van de Beek would only be a good backup to add some depth to the midfield, but not an undisputed starter.
Manchester United refuse to engage talks over Pogba’s situation and Real Madrid know that it might take a €150 million offer to sign the Frenchman away from the Manchester-based club. However, that kind of effort is what they’ll need to do if they want to actually improve the starting lineup and not only the depth of the team.
