New Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic talked with 11 Freunde in an interview and shared his thoughts and analysis on his style of play and what he likes to do when he’s on the pitch. Some of these quotes are very interesting and reveal Jovic’s character.
“I like smart players and that’s why I try to play with my head. When I was 15 years old and I was playing against people who were 18 and scoring 40 goals per season, my body and being a physical player helped me a lot,” said Jovic.
“Now I’m not a fighter who can go around pressing for 90 minutes. I like the simple things. I want to only use my physicality when I am not able to dominate with my mind,” added the young attacker.
Jovic’s moves are indeed very smart. He tends to find open space between defenders and that’s what gives him room to operate and score. He’s also a physical attacker, so it will be interesting to see how he plays in La Liga.
The Serbian striker also talked about Niko Kovac, the most relevant coach he’s had during his career.
“Kovac helped me when I needed to bounce back. He wouldn’t let me rest for a minute in training. He always wanted more from me. I’m very grateful to him. He was a very important coach for me. He made me a better player and a better person,” concluded Jovic.
The attacker is expected to be a reserve behind Karim Benzema next season as he tries to keep developing and improving as a player. He will be an intriguing option to have on the bench when Madrid need to score, though.
