Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane talked to the CEO of the International Champions Cup and explained Madrid’s current pre-season stage.
“It’s so important to face quality teams as they are very different. There’s a German team, a British team and a Spanish team. Winning this game is not the most important thing but getting ready is. We will be playing different games,” said Zidane about the competition.
“The Madrid Derby will be a beautiful game for the fans. For us, as a club, this is a very important game and we all want to show the quality of the teams in the Spanish capital,” added the coach.
Zidane also praised Simeone’s accomplishments as the coach of Atletico de Madrid. Real Madrid’s neighbors have improved a lot since the Argentinian manager took over and Zidane acknowledged it.
“Simeone is better as a coach than he was as a player. He was just a part of the team as a player, but he’s the one in charge as a coach and he works very well. He has a lot of character, he has the willingness to do everything well and it’s harder to beat him as a coach,” said Zidane about Atletico’s coach.
Finally, the Frenchman talked about his new signings.
“It’s so important to have all of our new players with us from the start of the preseason. The preseason stage is key for a player and it’s crucial for them to be with us from the first day,” concluded Zidane.
