Ahead of Tuesday's match with Arsenal, Zinedine Zidane spoke to the media and looked to clarify some of the statements made over the weekend about Gareth Bale. The Frenchman was visibly frustrated with the situation and the amount of questions asked about Bale:

“It’s true, that at times, my Spanish is misunderstood. I will be very clear: first, I have not disrespected anyone, least of all Gareth. I always say the same thing, the players are the most important and I will always be with my players. Second, I said that the club is working to facilitate Bale’s departure, nothing more”.

“ And lastly, Bale did not dress for the game because he did not want to play as we were negotiating his departure.” he concluded.

Gareth Bale’s time at Madrid is coming to an end. Reports from Spain had suggested a deal to the Chinese Super League was close, but others have poured cold water on those suggestions. It’s an uncomfortable situation for all involved and hopefully the club and player can come to an amicable solution as soon as possible.
