Jorge Mendes was present in Madrid today to accompany Cristiano Ronaldo, who won the prestigious “MARCA Leyenda” award. After the ceremony, Mendes, spoke with Radio Marca about his other client, James Rodriguez. The Colombian has returned to training today at Valdebebas, 700 days after his last training session for Los Blancos. His future is still unclear, but reports in the Spanish media have suggested that he may stay at Real Madrid.
“James? The President, Florentino, will decide. He is a professional. It’s something that you have to ask James and Madrid. I am not James. I only want what is best for him and for the club,” Mendes stated.
When probed further on the situation, specifically the relationship between James and Zidane, Jorge Mendes was forthright: “James is a professional. Zidane is a professional. As for their relationship, they are two professionals.”
In all likelihood, James is probably not a big part of Zidane’s plans. If an offer arrives near the €50 million mark, Madrid may try to cash in on the Colombian. At his peak, there are few better in the world of football, especially those who can produce goal-scoring opportunities. On his day, he has a wand for a left foot. Though, injuries, apparent attitude problems, and most modern teams opting for a system that does not utilize a “number 10”, meant James ascension to a Balon d’Or type talent has stalled. There is a little over a month remaining in the transfer market, will James get one last opportunity with his beloved Madrid or be forced out the back door once again?
