Napoli football director Cristiano Giuntoli is in Madrid and will meet with James Rodriguez’s agent Jorge Mendes as he tries to complete a move for the Colombian playmaker, according to reports from MARCA and AS.
The talks between Real Madrid and Napoli had stalled after Atletico de Madrid showed interest in James, something which forces the Italian club to react if they really want to sign him this summer.
While Madrid want to get at least €42 million to let James go, Napoli would rather complete a loan deal this summer and then have an option to buy the player in the following years. Los Blancos need the money now and don’t want to postpone James’ permanent move to his new club after what happened with Bayern, so it seems that Napoli will have to sign the player and give up about that loan deal.
“We want to play quality football, this team is used to play that way. I know James very well and I know the quality he would offer. Unfortunately he’s not a Napoli player right now,” said Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti when asked about James.
Real Madrid will try their very best to reach an agreement with Napoli in order not to improve Atletico’s team.
