Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane talked to the press after the 2-2 draw against Roma in Madrid’s last preseason game before the 2019-2020 campaign kicks off next Saturday with an away game against Celta. The French coach was asked about transfer rumors regarding Neymar and Pogba yet refused to share his thoughts on the matter.
“Our mind is only focused on Saturday’s match,” said Zidane when asked about Neymar. “This is the squad we have and next Saturday we’ll play La Liga, period. That’s it,” he added when he was asked about Pogba.
Zidane also talked about James and Bale. The Welshman played some minutes and contributed even though he looked to be on his way out of the club all throughout the summer. James, on the other hand, stayed in Madrid and it won’t be easy for him to earn minutes.
“James and Bale are Real Madrid players. They’re both registered but anything can happen and I have to count on them. James didn’t make the list but that could change. Anything can happen until the end of the transfer window,” explained the coach.
Zidane implemented a 3-5-2 formation once again and talked about that strategy during the press conference.
“We’re not playing with five defenders, there’s three defenders and two fullbacks who play up the pitch. We did very well the other day. We will change our formations because we have many players and we can do many different things,” concluded the coach.
