Luka Jovic and Thibaut Courtois rejoined Real Madrid’s squad in training this Friday after recovering from their injuries, which kept them out of Madrid’s last two preseason games against Tottenham and Fenerbahce.
Both players had an ankle injury and appeared ready to miss more time, especially Courtois given that the club announced that he suffered a grade II ankle sprain. Some reports suggested that the Belgian keeper could miss Madrid’s first official game against Celta, but Courtois recovered in time and will be available for the next two preseason games against Red Bull Salzburg and Roma.
On the other hand, Jovic’s recovery will be helpful, given that the striker needs minutes and confidence in order to make an impact this season. He’s expected to be Benzema’s backup this year but Zidane could possibly play them both in order to have a pure finisher while also allowing Benzema to be more of a playmaker.
