Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane talked in press conference a day ahead of the team's home debut against Valladolid. The Frenchman had to tackle the transfer rumors about Neymar and Keylor Navas, and no matter what the reports say, it seems that nothing has changed.
“Keylor is here with us, wants to be here with us, he can show that he is very good and he is working like that. That is the most important for a player. He has always been professional. The situation is the same for me, he hasn't told me that he wants to leave the club. We will have many games, and I will count on him," said Zidane when asked about the Costa Rican goalkeeper.
Madrid completed an encouraging season opener against Celta Vigo and will hope to play well in front of their fans.
“To return to our stadium brings us a lot of joy. The players are looking forward to the new season, and their first game here in the Bernabeu with our fans. The fans always want to see the team play well and win. They know what has happened here, good and bad and we want them to enjoy their team.” he said.
Although Madrid should be considered the heavy favorites to win the game, Zidane knows that his team must take the game very seriously.
“You cannot say that we will win because we're playing Valladolid. That does not happen in football now. They have started the season well. But we are ourselves, and we must believe in what we are doing," he explained.
James Rodríguez could feature and it seems that he will stay in the club past this summer.
“James plays football very well. We are happy to have him back here, and I will count on him just like I count on everyone, and he is happy to be here. What counts is what happens from here. There are many games and I will count on all the players," said Zidane, who also praised Gareth Bale once again.
“What has changed is that the player is going to stay, nothing else. The important thing is that the player wants to stay, and we will count on him. He has shown he is a big player, and he must show again the player that he is. The other day he played a good game but not just in what he is good at. He worked hard defensively. We have to stay on that path. Gareth, all of them. We know we need to improve, to achieve important things. And they all will," concluded Zidane.
