Real Madrid captain and defender Sergio Ramos talked to the press in the mixed zone right after the 1-1 draw against Valladolid and praised PSG’s Neymar Jr. when asked about the rumors suggesting that the Brazilian star will move to Madrid before the transfer window closes.
“Neymar is a top player, a top 3 player in the world of football,” said Ramos. “Still, to talk about signings is disrespectful towards this great team. Rumors like this one always float around the club and even more so with the transfer window still open. We have to stay calm about it and we will fight it all with the players we have here,” added the captain.
Madrid played a decent game yet couldn’t do better than a 1-1 draw even though Benzema gave Madrid the lead in the 82nd minute.
“This draw hurts us because it was the first game at the Bernabeu and we wanted to complete a good game and dedicate it to our fans,” explained Ramos. “We played with our heart trying to find that second goal and sometimes you have to defend what you already have. I don’t think we lack scoring ability because we created chances and played good football. I’ve enjoyed watching the team from the back line, that’s the feeling I had. We have to learn from these things because we shouldn’t have tried to score the second, but we have to realize that we played a great first half in order to keep working,” described the defender.
Ramos was also asked about Keylor Navas, who reportedly wants to leave the club and could be joining PSG before the transfer window closes.
“He’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Madrid need two world class keepers and Courtois and Keylor are just that. I’d like for him to stay because he’s not only a great player but also a friend,” concluded Ramos.
