Paris Saint Germain is expected to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper, Keylor Navas, for €13 million before the end of the transfer window. The Costa Rican will sign a 4-year deal with the French club. In return, PSG will send Alphonse Areloa on loan to Real Madrid for one season, who will come in as the back up to Thibaut Courtois. According to Spanish radio outlet, Cadena Cope, Zidane was very much against the departure of Keylor Navas and tried to convince the Costa Rican to stay. Edu Aguirre, a journalist for El Chiringuito, also confirmed the story. Costa Rican outlet La Nacion, reports that Keylor has already said goodbye to many of his teammates. The Costa Rican was not happy to settle for the back-up role and has apparently been given assurances over his starting position in Paris.

Real Madrid’s potential new arrival, Areloa is not unfamiliar to La Liga and Spain, as he spent the 2015/2016 season on loan at Villareal covering for the injured Sergio Asenjo. Tuchel was expected to given the keeper the #1 spot this season, thus forcing the departure of Kevin Trapp to Eintracht Frankfurt, but it now looks like the French club have looked in alternative direction for their choice in between the sticks.

The one year loan deal for Areloa opens the pathway for Andriy Lunin to return from his individual loan spell with Real Valladolid at the end of the season and compete with Courtois for the #1 spot.

If Keylor Navas does end up leaving, he will be remembered fondly by all Real Madrid fans. His selfless attitude, terrific work ethic, and all around good nature made him a favorite at the Bernabue.
