Real Madrid have announced the departure of Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who joins Paris Sant-Germain.

Real Madrid C. F. and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement over the transfer of Keylor Navas.

The club wishes to express its gratitude and affection for the player’s conduct and commitment throughout his five seasons at Real Madrid.

Navas was a part of one of the most significant spells of our history, during which time he lifted 12 pieces of silverware, including three Champions League crowns.

No fee has been officially published and Madrid are receiving French goalkeeper Alphonse Areola on a year-long loan deal to serve as Thibaut Courtois’ backup goalkeeper, meaning that Los Blancos won’t go after an experienced backup during this deadline day.

Real Madrid C. F. and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement over the loan of Alphonse Areola for the current campaign.

Real Madrid’s latest signing will remain at the club until 30 June 2020.

Navas was a crucial player for Real Madrid during these past few years and started in all three of the last Champions League titles conquered by Los Blancos. However, he lost his spot as an undisputed starter after Madrid decided to sign Courtois last summer and now the club decided to move on and trust the younger Courtois going forward.

Navas will now be PSG’s starting goalkeeper, so he will face Real Madrid in the upcoming Champions League Group Stage.
