Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane talked in press conference after the team’s 0-1 win in Sevilla and was very satisfied with the performance from his players only three days after a discouraging loss in Paris.
“Yes, this was the best match since my return. Everyone helped each other on the field, and while it’s true that we struggled at times, it was easy to see how selfless every player was. This is a tough stadium to visit and we needed to play well for 90 minutes,” said Zidane.
Madrid’s attackers contributed defensively and both Bale and Hazard helped the midfield line with their work rate.
“We know we can be dangerous offensively but the main reason behind our win was the defensive work from every player. Bale, James and Hazard defended a lot, which you needed to do to win a difficult match like this one,” explained the coach.
Los Blancos will try to use this win to turn things around and gain momentum. They’re visiting Atletico de Madrid next weekend in what will be a tough game for Zidane’s men.
“We have to use everything we did today but every match is different. We need to play with this intensity from the get go. We have to congratulate our players because they gave it all and I’m so happy for them because they deserve it. We have to value the effort they put on,” concluded the Frenchman.
