Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal talked to Cadena COPE in Spain’s training camp and explained why the club didn’t make as many changes on their roster as initially expected.

“There are always news about a revolution happening but it’s not easy to do it in a team such as Real Madrid because everyone wants to come and when they’re here everyone wants to stay. Great players like Hazard, Militao and Mendy signed for us and they will improve our roster,” said Carvajal.

The right-back also talked about Neymar and Pogba, two of the biggest names who were reportedly on Madrid’s radar all summer long.

“One day I was reading that he was going to join Barcelona, the next day he was going to sign for us and the next one that he was going to stay. We were asking our Brazilian teammates and they told us that they didn’t know what was going to happen. There were rumors about Pogba as well. Transfer deadlines are different in every league now and in the end it didn’t happen. We can’t think about players who are not here,” added the defender.

Real Madrid have struggled during the first three games of the season. While Los Blancos beat Celta in the season opener, they’ve now collected two straight draws against Valladolid and Villarreal.

“People might think that we’ve only played three games and we’ve got two draws already, so the bad feelings from last year are here again. However, it’s not what we’re feeling. It’s true that we have to improve both defensively and offensively, but we will do important things again,” says Carvajal.

Finally, the defender also shared his thoughts on Navas’ departure from the club.

“Keylor was my teammate and he sat beside me in the locker room. I talk quite a lot with him and he wanted to play minutes, so in the end I think it was a good move for him,” concluded the defender.
