Ajax midfielder Donny Van de Beek still is on Real Madrid’s radar to join the club in the summer of 2020, even though the club decided to wait when they were set to complete a deal for the Dutchman.
Spanish newspaper As reported this Sunday that Madrid made that decision so that Van de Beek could get more experience in the Dutch Eredivisie. He would have been a reserve for Madrid this season and he’s still 22 years old, so it makes sense for him to be a key starter while he can.
Madrid were set to reach a €50 million agreement to sign Van de Beek and it’s not clear whether they will have an option to sign the midfielder for that same price next summer. If Van de Beek keeps performing well his market value will definitely increase and other clubs might get interested. If Los Blancos really want Van de Beek, they’ll need to spend.
