Real Madrid drew Segunda Division B team Unionistas de Salamanca for the next round of the Copa del Rey, which will be played later this month. The game will be played on January 21st, 22nd or 23rd.

The Spanish Football Federation changed the format of this competition and now this round will be decided in a single elimination game which will be played in Salamanca, meaning that Real Madrid won’t have a chance to take care of business at the Bernabeu if anything goes wrong in the game.

Unionistas de Salamanca are a very young club formed in 2013 after the historic Union Deportiva Salamanca disappeared.

Real Madrid will be considered the heavy favorites to advance to the next round of the competition and it would take a huge collapse from Zidane’s men to lose the game, given that Unionistas are a Segunda B team. In fact, coach Zidane will most likely use this game to make some rotations and give minutes to his young reserves like Vinicius, Militao, Jovic or Brahim Diaz.
