Real Madrid host Sevilla right after conquering the 2020 Spanish Supercup in dramatic fashion with a win against Atletico de Madrid in the penalty shootout. Los Blancos will need yet another solid performance against Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla, who completed a very solid first half of the season and are currently fourth in the table.
Zinedine Zidane’s men managed to get the three points when these two teams first met in Sevilla this season. This time, Real Madrid will be without captain Sergio Ramos, who twisted his ankle in the Final against Atletico, and key midfielder Fede Valverde. Without Valverde, Zidane will be expected to deploy a four-man midfield with Casemiro, Kroos, Modric and Isco trying to contain Sevilla’s possession-oriented style while Benzema and Rodrygo will likely lead the team’s offensive line.
This is a crucial match for Real. The players had enough time to celebrate the Supercup title and now it’s time for them to keep performing at a high level so that they can compete for more trophies down the road.
