Tacón face Sporting de Huelva, who stand 12th in the league, on Sunday in Estadio Nuevo Colombino at 12:00 CET. The match will not be streamed.
After the crushing loss against Barça, Las Blancas need a win to recover morale. Furthermore, Sporting de Huelva are the kind of team that Tacón just needs to beat in order to keep out of the relegation zone.
Sporting de Huelva have won three out of eight matches played at home. This week, they reinforced their squad with American midfielder Kristina Fisher from Miami Hurricanes. Their coach, Antonio Toledo, talked to the press about his thoughts on Tacón:
They are a somewhat misleading rival. They have yet to give everything they can give as a team, but individually we are facing one of the best teams in the competition. With star players of the likes of Jakobsson, Peter, Asllani, Thaisa ... Players who were starters in the World Cup for national teams like Sweden, Brazil and Germany. This is a team made with a checkbook.
The Andalusian side was Tacón’s first ever win at Ciudad Real Madrid and in Primera Iberdrola. It would be fitting if they also become their first away victory.
Injuries / Suspensions
Daiane surprisingly missed last game. She was injured but we have no further information on the nature of the injury. On Friday, she confirmed that she is fit to play this week. Chioma Ubogagu informed during the week that she had the flu and has been left out of the squad list.
There are no suspensions for this match. Aurélie Kaci, Lorena Navarro, Ainoa Campo and Thaisa have picked up four yellow cards each, if any of them are booked they will be facing a one-match suspension.
Irene Rodríguez and María Peiró from Sporting de Huelva are injured.
Potential XIs
CD Tacón: Valles; Samara, Ainoa, Daiane, Peter; Jakobsson, Kaci, Thaisa, Lorena; Jessica Martínez, Asllani.
Sporting de Huelva: Ashurst; Pavel, Clavijo, Costa, Vicente; Alidou, Ojeda, Oliver; Cham, Reifs, Tanaka.
Note:
The Spanish federation (RFEF) accepted the proposal from the club association (AFCC) to sign the agreement reached with football players association (AFE) before Christmas. The ‘convenio colectivo’ for the players will be signed on Monday. This could potentially mean that we will be able to watch Tacón away games, but it is unclear since the club is not a part of the AFCC and they have not sold their streaming rights.
