Update: Odriozola is not training with the rest of the squad this Tuesday as his move away from the Bernabeu is completed.
Real Madrid defender Alvaro Odriozola is set to leave the club on a loan deal during this winter transfer market, according to a report from Cadena COPE. Odriozola has been lacking minutes this season and has only played in five games. He’s not a relevant player for Zinedine Zidane and he could benefit from relevant minutes elsewhere.
Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla seem to be the two most likely destinations for Odriozola, with Bayern Munich also a candidate, per that same report.

While Odriozola has been disappointing when given the chance to feature as a starter, it’s also true that he’s the only pure backup right-back in the current squad. This move would make much more sense next summer, once Achraf Hakimi returns to the club after his two-year loan spell in Dortmund.
Real Madrid would be in huge trouble if Carvajal gets injured after Odriozola has left the club, although Eder Militao could be an option to play in the right side of Madrid’s defensive side when needed.
