Real Madrid begin their Copa del Rey season with an away match against Segunda Division B team Unionistas de Salamanca. As always, the first stages of the domestic competition offer Madrid a good chance to rest their starters, and today will be no exception. Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Rodrygo didn’t make the squad list and reserves like Jovic, Brahim, Bale or James will be expected to play relevant minutes.

Los Blancos should definitely have what it takes to advance to the next round of the competition. However, it’s a single elimination game and Zidane’s men have to take care of business as Unionistas will surely play with a lot of intensity to go for the upset. Furthermore, the weather around Salamanca has been extremely bad this week and there could be some snow on the pitch, so Real Madrid should not expect an easy and pleasant game here.
