As expected, it was a close match today in Ciudad Real Madrid’s Campo 11. Before the match started, the team wore a t-shirt in support of Samara Ortiz with the message “Ánimo Samara.”
Tacón dominated the first few minutes of the match but Logroño soon responded. Both teams created danger but without any luck on goal for the whole of the first half. Las Blancas had the most chances but failed to capitalize on them. Daiane’s performance stood out on defense, but she was booked in an arguable decision for an aerial challenge.
After a goalless first-half, Logroño pushed up their lines and Tacón lost control of the game. Ida Guehai took advantage of Yohana stumbling and scored for Logroño in the 58th minute. Las Escolares kept on dominating the game, launching fast counterattacks led by their goal scorer. Tacón managed to respond from a free-kick but it was called off due to a dubious foul from Daiane in another aerial challenge.
Next Sunday, Febraury 2nd, at 16:00 CET, we will have a “derbi madrileño” against Madrid CFF.
