Real Madrid face off against Zaragoza in the Copa del Rey’s Round of 16, trying to clinch their presence in the Quarterfinals in what will be yet another single-elimination game, this time against a much better team than Unionistas de Salamanca.
Zaragoza are a historic club competing for promotion to La Liga and they’ve got quality players. It’s clear that it would still be a massive disappointment for Real Madrid to get knocked out by Zaragoza, but Zidane’s men will need to take this match very seriously if they want to avoid any kind of scare.
The French coach decided to give Casemiro and Isco some rest, so Fede Valverde should start as Madrid’s defensive midfielder. It will be interesting to see if James Rodriguez gets another chance to feature in the starting lineup given that both Vinicius and Rodrygo are available this time. Zidane will still be expected to make some rotations, but perhaps not as many as he made in Salamanca.
