Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane addressed the media after the 0-4 win against Zaragoza in the Copa del Rey’s Round of 16. Madrid clinched their presence in the Quarterfinals and Zidane was visibly satisfied with the performance from his players.
“Today we kept a clean sheet and managed to score a lot of goals, which is very important. We’re defending at a high level and we’ve scored four goals when people were questioning our scoring punch. We have a tough game coming up next Saturday but right now we’re happy,” said Zidane.
Lucas Vazquez got a chance to start the match and scored Real Madrid’s second goal. Zidane wanted to praise him.
“What matters is what I think of him. He has all my support, I believe in him because he’s a lovely kid who gives his best on the field. Then people can always have their opinion and we have to accept that. He’s a graduate from our academy and our fans want to see their players giving their best, which Lucas does,” explained Zidane, who was also asked about Vinicius Juniornd his defensive work rate.
“It’s clear that this kind of work is something he has to do, everyone has to do it. And we’ve improved in that area,” said Zidane.
Luka Jovic couldn’t score and while the French coach isn’t worried about his striker, it’s obvious that everyone wants to see Jovic hitting the back of the net.
“I’d be very happy for him if he scores, it will come if he keeps working. He’s a young player who just got here and he needs to get used to our team. This complicated moment will be very useful when he manages to score because everything will change,” concluded Zidane.
