Nuno Espírito Santo spoke to the press ahead of Wolves FA Cup clash vs Manchester United on Saturday. The Portuguese, who has Wolves up to 7th in the Premier League, was open and honest on his assessment of Vallejo’s time at the club.
“I’m going to be clear - Vallejo probably is going to leave because he wants to play. He’s a young and talented player that we brought here with high expectations, but it simply didn’t work out. It’s time for him to go and find a club where he can play and keep on progressing,” the coach told reporters.
“Vallejo had moments that he played, moments that he performed well, and some moments he didn’t perform so well. That’s the case of Vallejo. Clearly, it didn’t work out,” Nuno concluded.
For Nuno and for Vallejo, the loan was a failure. Now Real Madrid are looking for a new destination for the center back before the winter transfer window closes. Leganes and Eintracht Frankfurt have been cited by both AS and Marca as two clubs who would like Vallejo’s services.
