Real Madrid will be kicking off their second half of the 2019-2020 Liga season by visiting Getafe, who have been excellent under Pepe Bordalas this year and are just two points behind Atletico de Madrid for the fourth spot in the table.
Zidane’s men will try to break their current streak of three consecutive draws in the domestic competition to start 2020 on a good note. The French coach will be without Eden Hazard, Marcelo and James Rodriguez. The Belgian star is still recovering from the foot injury he picked up against PSG and won’t be expected to make his return until later this month, while Marcelo and James are back in training but aren’t ready to play a competitive match just yet.
Ramos will also miss the game after seeing his fifth yellow card against Athletic Bilbao, which means that Eder Militao will start in the center of the team’s defensive line alongside Varane.
Getafe are a defensive-minded team who know how to take advantage of solid counterattacking chances, so Real Madrid will need to be at their very best if they want to earn the three points away from the Bernabeu here.
