Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane talked to the press this Tuesday and discussed the team’s upcoming match against Valencia in the Spanish Supercup Semifinal —Wednesday, 20:00 CEST—.
The French coach praised his striker Luka Jovic, who will be expected to start and lead Real Madrid’s attack given that Karim Benzema didn’t make the squad list for the tournament.
“Jovic is definitely an option to replace Benzema, he’s the future and he has to stay calm. He’s learning, and he’s a kid who wants to learn a lot, but he’s already very good. He will score a lot of goals, we trusted in him and now we have to be patient,” said Zidane.
The French coach also discussed the reasons behind the improvements shown by his team.
“We have to keep defending at a good level so that we can attack well. Offensively we have to give our best, if they barely reach our own box that’s the main thing we have to work on in order for our team to improve, and now we need that defensive level in this game,” he explained.
Zidane also wanted to state that the Semifinal against Valencia is a different match from their previous meeting in Mestalla.
“Every game is different, we’re both away from our stadium and they also have some injuries. Our approach will not change a single bit, we’re happy about playing this competition and we didn’t come here to play without intensity. We will have to give our best because our opponent is a very good one,” concluded Zidane.
