Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric talked to the press in Croatia’s training camp and revealed that he would be keen on extending his current contract with the club. Still, he mentioned that it’d be important for him to be a relevant player.

“I’d like to stay in Real Madrid. Howevever, I am aware of my age and the fact that the club needs to think about what’s best for all of us. As long as I’m an important piece for Real Madrid, I’d like to stay. When that isn’t the case, I’d look for new challenged, but that is not a topic of discussion right now,” said Modric.

Reports from the Spanish press suggest that Real Madrid would be willing to offer Modric a one-year extension. His current deal expires in the summer of 2021 but Modric is still a starter for Los Blancos, so an agreement between the two sides seems quite likely.
