Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is questionable to face Shakhtar Donestk in what will be the team’s Champions League season opener this upcoming Wednesday.
Ramos was forced to leave Saturday’s match against Cadiz with a knock on his knee and doesn’t want to risk his presence in the upcoming El Clasico, so he would be willing to be patient and miss the clash against Shakhtar, according to reports from the Spanish press.
Luckily enough for Real Madrid, Eder Militao is back with the team and ready to play. Varane is also 100% healthy and both center-backs could be the defenders against Shakthar.
It makes a lot of sense for Ramos to rest and recover properly ahead of El Clasico, even if he actually feels like his knee injury isn’t serious and that he could eventually feature against Shakhtar.
At this point in his career, Ramos needs to take care of his body and make sure that he’s completely ready to play and perform when it matters most, and in this case it will be Saturday’s El Clasico at the Camp Nou.
