Real Madrid visit FC Barcelona in the first El Clasico of the 2020-2021 season. Los Blancos are coming off two very disappointing losses against Cadiz and Shakhtar, two games which should’ve been manageable for Zinedine Zidane’s men. On the other hand, Barcelona have been somewhat encouraging so far after what was a very tough and controversy offseason for them.
Real Madrid predicted XI: Courtois, Nacho, Varane, Ramos, Mendy, Casemiro, Kroos, Modric, Valverde, Vinicius, Benzema.
Barcelona predicted XI: Neto, Roberto, Pique, Lenglet, Dest, Busquets, De Jong, Griezmann, Coutinho, Fati, Messi.
Zidane will have a tough decision to make about his right-back spot. Without Carvajal and Odriozola, he could be tempted to start Mendy there, which would force him to start Marcelo on the left. The Brazilian defender hasn’t been reliable so far this season, so Zidane will likely decide to start Nacho on the right with Mendy on the left.
A 4-4-2 formation with Valverde on the right side would also help Nacho, so that is why Zidane could start Casemiro, Kroos, Modric and Valverde in the midfield.
