Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy will return to the French national team in this FIFA break after Olympique Lyon’s Leo Dubois tested positive for Coronavirus right before joining the squad.

Mendy and the rest of France will face Portugal and Croatia this FIFA break. The French national team will also face Ukraine in a friendly match this Wednesday but Mendy will not join the squad until this Thursday.

The left-back has been very solid ever since he joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, becoming the undisputed starter for Los Blancos recently. Mendy will now have a chance to quite possibly cement himself as a regular for France, given that he’s also playing consistently for Madrid.

Madrid defender Raphael Varane is also on duty with the French national team, where he is a key starter and one of the leaders of the team who conquered the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
