Real Madrid loanee, Brahim Diaz, scored a brace off the bench in Spain U-21 2-0 win away to the Faroe Islands as Las Rojas continued their march towards the U-21 European championship finals.

Diaz was among two current Fabrica products (Fran Garcia being the other) in Spain's squad for this evening game and Tuesday match against Kazakhstan. None started the game however as coach Luis de la Fuente rotated his team.

The result was a pretty dull first half with the away side best chances coming from two Oscar Rodriguez free kicks. Diaz was introduced after halftime for just his second U-21 cap. He had an immediate impact, cutting in from wide and drawing a save from Djurhuus.

His goal started with the winger cutting into space just outside Spain half of the pitch. Driving through the Faroe midfield, Diaz laid the ball off to a teammate whose cutback was lacklustre and slapped away by the keeper. The ball fortunately returned to Spanish feet and a second cutback to Diaz arrived just before the goalkeeper returned into position allowing Diaz to slam home.

Wearing number seven, Diaz really should of scored two more, such was his dominance out wide but seemed destined to remain at one heading into additional time. Early in the 93rd minute, a high ball was slammed high into air towards Diaz. The touch to bring down the ball was pure magic, only overshadowed by the strength to hold off three defenders before curling in a second goal

Spain host Kazakhstan on Tuesday, top of their qualifying group and surely on course for a place at the European championship finals later this season.

One would be hopefully that Fran Garcia will see some minutes before the international break ends while Brahim is surely a starter for the next game after today's performance.
