Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio will be replacing Ansu Fati for the Spanish national team during this FIFA break. Asensio hasn’t been brilliant since the season started but he’s confident that he can still improve and perform the way he was used to before his knee injury.
“I still need time and to be patient in order to reach my best form. I trust the work I’m doing and my chances to do so. My feelings after the injury are good, in the end it’s all a matter of confidence as the season progresses,” said Asensio.
The attacker was also asked about Madrid’s last performances. Real lost 4-1 to Valencia this past weekend and seem to be in a bit of a crisis, although Asensio decided not to talk much about it.
“It’s not nice when the results are not happening for our club, but right now we’re focused on the national team. There are other things going on here and I’m focused on the three games we have ahead,” concluded Asensio.
It would be beneficial for Asensio to keep getting minutes for the Spanish national team so that he can keep finding confidence and consistency going forward.
