Thibaut Courtois and Belgium pitched a 2-0 clean sheet against England in their Nations League match on Sunday.
There’s not much to say when it comes to Courtois’ performance as he really didn’t need to make any saves. England dominated had 16 shot attempts, three on target, and dominated possession in the second half, but barely forced the Belgian keeper to make a proper save.
The Belgian back three of Toby Alderweireld, Jason Denayer and Jan Vertonghen was able to hold strong and blank the English offense, which lacked a good final product.
Courtois’ club teammate and fellow countryman Eden Hazard did not partake in this Nations League match after testing positive for COVID-19 last week. He will not be playing for them in their final match on Wednesday either.
Luka Jović and Serbia drew 1-1 away to Hungary on Sunday. The 22-year-old played all 90 minutes and put forward a good performance overall.
He had three shots, two key passes and assisted on Nemanja Radonjić’s opening goal. A couple of the shots he had could’ve even been converted into goals but he wasn’t able to.
He has been playing much better as of late with Serbia, having a goal and an assist in his last two international matches. That crucial goal, of course, coming in the 90th minute against Scotland in the EURO qualifier.
These two players and their respective countries will play one final Nations League group stage match apiece. Courtois and the Belgians take on Denmark in Leuven. Belgium currently sit atop Group B, holding two points over the Danes.
Jović and Serbia sit at the bottom of Group G and take on group leaders Russia in Belgrade. The Russians are tied on points with Hungary while Serbia have only three points in the competition.
You can watch these players back in international action as they both play on Wednesday.
