Touted prospect Adam Arvelo stars in Cadete A’s derby rout

Real Madrid defeated Atletico Madrid 11-0 over the weekend!

AS

Youth football in Spain has been one of the hardest hit by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Last season’s campaigns were all halted halfway through, 2020/21 only just started for many age groups this week and those who started earlier have seen many of their games cancelled due to breakouts.

Nonetheless, La Fabrica had a good week this week with Castilla and Juvenil A returning to action after postponed matches (albeit to mixed results) and many of the younger Cadete and Infantil age groups finally starting their seasons, largely, on positive notes.

One particularly eye catching result was Cadete A’s jaw dropping 11-0 win over Atletico Madrid. The under-16s were 5-0 up at halftime and emphatically added to their advantage in the second half. One standout performer was Adam Arvelo, the Spanish winger who signed for Real from Villarreal this summer. The 15-year-old is highly touted, so much so that Nike have already signed him up for a deal that initially runs until 2022. Arvelo scored twice and assisted another on a dream debut, backing up some of the excitement that’s hovering around the winger at the moment.

It is extremely early days right now, but if this kid’s Real Madrid career plays out as the hype suggests, then it couldn’t have started on a better note.
