Real Madrid will be without attacker Karim Benzema when they face Inter Milan this Wednesday. Benzema picked up an injury before the past FIFA break and while the coaching staff and most fans were expecting to see him back right after that break, the French striker still isn’t ready.
Benzema didn’t train with the squad this Monday and therefore will not travel with the team on Tuesday. While he could still try to travel and see if he’s ready to train on Tuesday, it makes no sense to risk a relapse and the coaching staff knows it.
That means that Mariano will almost certainly lead Real Madrid’s offensive line against Inter. He scored last Saturday and showed that he has the accuracy to contribute, but it won’t be easy to do the same against Conte’s side.
Madrid need to bounce back from their last two disappointing performances against Valencia and Villarreal.
