OFFICIAL: Real Madrid’s statement on passing of Diego Armando Maradona

The Argentinian legend passed away this Wednesday.

Real Madrid have published an official statement on their website to grieve Diego Armando Maradona, who passed away this Wednesday in Argentina.

Real Madrid C. F., its president and Board of Directors are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a true legend of world football, Diego Armando Maradona.

Real Madrid extends its condolences to his family and friends, his former clubs and football fans worldwide, particularly those in Argentina.

Diego Armando Maradona, one of the greatest players in the history of the game, has passed away at 60 years of age.

With Boca Juniors he won 1 League title; with F. C. Barcelona, he clinched 1 Copa del Rey, 1 Spanish Super Cup and 1 Copa de la Liga; and with Napoli he lifted a UEFA Cup, 2 league titles, 1 Coppa Italia and 1 Super Cup.

He was also crowned world champion with Argentina in 1986.

Diego Armando Maradona leaves behind a truly remarkable legacy, an icon for millions of football fans across the globe.
